Isabela Cream is named after Isabel Puerto, the wife of the founder of Grupo Estévez, José Estévez de los Reyes. Like most Cream Sherries, it is a blend of Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez, but unlike many the base wines are already old when they are blended. The blend then goes through a special solera over a hundred years old and the resulting wine has an average age of over 15 years. This process produces a complex, homogeneous blend of the highest quality. Isabela is very aromatic with notes of raisin, walnut, fig and oak on the nose while it is delightfully textured and intensely flavoured on the palate with lots of raisin, toffee and fine Oloroso. It makes an excellent aperitif and a superb after dinner wine, and matches most desserts, cakes, pastries and some blue cheeses. It can be served at room temperature and is delicious over ice, perhaps with a slice of orange, or chilled straight from the fridge.
