Opis
BASA is one of the pioneering wines to show the expression of a grape variety, the ‘Verdejo’ that adapted to a continental climate gives rise to a direct, fresh and expressive wine.
Region: Rueda
Villages: La Seca, Serrrada, Pozaldez, Foncastín
Varieties: 90% Verdejo and 10% Viura
Vintage characteristics: 2023 was generally earlier than the previous year despite the fact harvest took place on similar dates. Summer temperatures, particularly in August, were quite high, with low rainfall throughout the year, which was slightly balanced out in the final part of the summer and the beginning of autumn. Harvest was marked by some rainfall, more than 60mm, which forced to delay the starting date, but favoured a better final phase of grape ripening. The grapes showed exceptional sanitary conditions and yields were slightly lower than last year, but of excellent quality. The result was a wine with a good balance between alcohol content and acidity and with very with clear tipicity aromas.
